Citizens to freely debate key issues including proposed Pompidou Centre satellite branch

The Busan city government announced Wednesday that Mayor Jeon Jae-soo will host a culture and arts policy town hall meeting Sept. 30 in the main conference room on the first floor of City Hall.

The event, themed "Busan as a city of cultural rights: citizens ask, Busan answers," is designed to share the city's policy vision of expanding residents' basic cultural rights and to open a dialogue with citizens on key issues.

The town hall will be divided into two sessions. The first will feature presentations on the city's culture and arts policy vision for the current administration — covering lifestyle culture, the cultural industry and governance — along with support programs for artists, followed by a themed discussion.

The second session will focus on major issues facing the local cultural community, including the proposed construction of a Pompidou Centre satellite branch, with an open forum for residents to share their views freely.

Residents wishing to attend can apply by scanning the QR code on promotional materials posted on the city's official website (https://www.busan.go.kr) and social media channels (https://www.busan.go.kr/mediabusan).

The city will select 60 participants to ensure diversity and representation across age groups, genders, residential areas and fields of interest, and plans to send mobile invitations by Sept. 23.

"The wide range of opinions gathered at the town hall will be actively reflected in the current administration's future culture and arts policies," Jeon said.
