Gangbuk-gu District Mayor Jung Chang-su will tour eight traditional markets and six alley shopping districts over four days from Sept. 15 through Sept. 23 to assess the local economy and grassroots business conditions ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

On the first day, Tuesday, Jung visited Baengnyeon Market in the afternoon, walking through the stalls, speaking with vendors and gauging the pre-holiday atmosphere. He then stopped at Suyu Jungang Market and Gangbuk Bukbu Market to encourage merchants and engage with residents shopping there.

On Sept. 18, he is scheduled to visit Suyu Plaza, Suyu Jaerae Market, Suyu Jeontong Market, Suyu Market, Ui Market and the Ui alley shopping district. On Sept. 22, he will call on Jangmiwon Alley Market and Eojini Alley Market, before wrapping up on Sept. 23 with visits to Samyang Market, Solsaem Market and the Mia Dangil alley shopping district.

The district plans to share feedback gathered during the tour with relevant departments and incorporate it into policy efforts to revitalize traditional markets and alley commercial districts.

"I hope all Gangbuk-gu residents enjoy a warm and restful Chuseok," Jung said. "I will listen carefully to the voices of merchants and residents, and consistently provide practical support that makes a real difference in the lives of every resident."
