Available from 11 a.m. Thursday via the Seoul Pay Plus app at a 5% discount; redeemable at Seoul Pay-affiliated restaurants, cafes, traditional markets and other merchants in Mapo-gu
Mapo-gu will issue 10 billion won ($7.43 million) worth of "Mapo Love Gift Vouchers" starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, ahead of the chuseok holiday, to ease household financial burdens and boost the local economy.
A previous 10 billion won issuance in May, timed to coincide with Children's Day, Parents' Day and other high-spending occasions during Family Month, sold out entirely to strong demand from residents.
The vouchers can be purchased at a 5% discount through the Seoul Pay Plus (Seoul Pay+) app using bank transfer, debit card or credit card.
Individual purchase limits are set at 500,000 won per month, with a maximum holding limit of 1.5 million won per person.
The vouchers are accepted at Seoul Pay-affiliated merchants in Mapo-gu, including restaurants, cafes and traditional markets. Participating merchant information is available on the Seoul Pay Plus app. Use is restricted at certain business types, including hypermarkets and entertainment venues.
Customers with questions about purchasing or using the Mapo Love Gift Vouchers can contact the Seoul Pay Plus customer service center.
Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun said the district prepared the vouchers to help ease residents' shopping costs ahead of chuseok. "I hope residents can shop smartly close to home, and that neighborhood stores and traditional markets enjoy a warm and lively chuseok," he said.
