Yeungjin College's AI Global IT Department hosted a special lecture Tuesday, inviting alumnus Jo Jeong-min — who now works at Japanese media conglomerate J:COM — to share job-hunting advice with current students.

Jo had already earned a four-year university degree before enrolling at Yeungjin College's AI Global IT Department with the specific goal of securing employment in Japan.

He systematically built his Japanese language skills and practical IT competencies through the department's industry-tailored curriculum and career guidance, and joined J:COM in 2025.

During the lecture, Jo walked students through his own job search process, Japan's hiring culture and his interview experiences. He said that beyond Japanese proficiency, building a distinct set of personal experiences and expertise is essential for anyone pursuing work in Japan.

"The most important thing I focused on while preparing to work in Japan was developing my Japanese alongside crafting my own story," Jo told the students. "It's crucial to clearly show what you're good at and what field you want to grow in."

He added that while the path to employment is not easy, a clear goal and consistent preparation can open doors. "I hope you turn every major subject and experience you gain at school into your own competitive edge," he said.
