District mayor and staff visit traditional markets and alley shopping districts to encourage merchants and hear their concerns ahead of Chuseok; various benefits including Onuri gift vouchers and prizes available at 21 traditional markets and alley shopping districts through Sept. 24
Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi and district staff are visiting seven traditional markets and the Taereung alley shopping district through Friday as part of a chuseok holiday shopping campaign.
The group will tour the markets, encourage merchants, and purchase ritual food offerings and agricultural products directly to help bring energy to the traditional market scene.
Ahead of the shopping visits, the district conducted safety inspections covering electrical, fire and gas systems at the markets from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4, so residents can shop with peace of mind.
The shopping campaign began at Sagajeong Market on Tuesday and will continue through Jungnang Dongbu Market on Friday, with Ryu and staff visiting each market in turn to speak with merchants and hear their concerns firsthand.
Alongside this, the district is running a series of events at 21 traditional markets and alley shopping districts from Sept. 9 through Sept. 24 to mark chuseok. Customers who spend above a set amount will receive Onuri gift vouchers or market-issued vouchers and coupons, and prize draws will also be held, offering shoppers a range of benefits at traditional markets and alley shopping districts in the area.
