Kim Yong-jin, president of Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH), said the company is building a high-quality business model so that the country's first equity-accumulation pre-sale housing scheme can serve as a genuine housing ladder for people who do not own homes.

GH announced Tuesday that it had successfully held a briefing on operational management standards ahead of the full-scale launch of the equity-accumulation pre-sale housing project.

Under the equity-accumulation pre-sale housing model, buyers initially acquire only a partial stake in a unit and purchase the remaining equity in stages over 20 to 30 years, significantly reducing the financial burden of homeownership. It is a public pre-sale model designed to make housing more accessible.

GH is preparing to launch a pilot pre-sale at Gwangyo Block A17 next month.

The briefing drew about 100 outside experts, including officials from urban development corporations nationwide — among them Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) — as well as local government staff responsible for public housing pre-sales and operational management, reflecting strong interest in the initiative.
