Gwangju Bank announced Tuesday it is holding a "The Dream+" deposit interest rate event to mark its 58th anniversary, expressing gratitude to customers and celebrating the new start of the South Jeolla-Gwangju integrated special city.
The event runs from Monday through Oct. 30 and is open to customers who sign up for the bank's "The Dream" deposit product. Those who open an account for a six- or nine-month term during the event period will receive a special preferential interest rate.
On top of the base rate of 1.9 percent, the bank will offer a pre-tax annual rate of 3.6 percent for six-month terms (a preferential rate of 1.7 percentage points) and 3.65 percent for nine-month terms (a preferential rate of 1.75 percentage points).
Deposits range from a minimum of 10 million won per account to a maximum of 2 billion won ($1.49 million) per customer, with a total sales cap of 500 billion won. The event will end early if the limit is reached.
