Vietnam unit's North America sales seen rising over 20% from a year earlier

LS Eco Energy announced Tuesday it will supply medium-voltage underground cables to a solar power complex in the United States.

Under the arrangement, LSCUS — a US subsidiary of Gaon Cable — signed the contract with a local customer, while LS-VINA, LS Eco Energy's Vietnam production subsidiary, will manufacture the cables. The cables will carry electricity generated at the solar complex to substation equipment.

"Demand for MV cables in the United States has surged, and LSCUS is more than doubling its local production capacity," an LS Eco Energy official said. "We are also drawing on LS-VINA's production capacity to keep pace with the rapidly growing demand."

LS Eco Energy plans to steadily expand its supply of distribution cables in the US power infrastructure market — including solar complexes — through its partnership with Gaon Cable. The company expects LS-VINA's MV cable exports to the United States to grow more than 20 percent this year compared with a year earlier.

"Gaon Cable is strengthening its order-fulfillment capability by linking its US local production with affiliate manufacturing bases, while LS Eco Energy is expanding exports to North America," said Lee Sang-ho, chief executive of LS Eco Energy. "We will intensify our push into the North American market by leveraging synergies across our affiliates."
