Daegu will implement special Chuseok holiday traffic measures from Sept. 23 to 27 to help residents travel safely and comfortably during the holiday.

According to the city, emergency duty teams will be deployed throughout the period to inspect transportation facilities for homebound travelers, manage traffic flow on major arterial roads and oversee parking in high-density areas.

A comprehensive traffic control center will operate around the clock, maintaining real-time coordination with the Korean National Police Agency, the fire department safety headquarters and other relevant agencies to enable rapid response to any traffic accidents.

On-site patrol units will be stationed at congested locations, including Dongdaegu Station and the Dongdaegu Transit Hub. The city will work with the Dongbu Police Station to manage traffic in congested sections and conduct traffic-order guidance.

To improve parking convenience and support local commerce, the city will open about 45,000 parking spaces free of charge — including 834 public and public institution lots — for the duration of the holiday. Twenty-three public parking lots near traditional markets, with roughly 2,500 spaces, will open free of charge from Sept. 22.

The city will also provide real-time road conditions, public transit information and detour guidance through its website, the Daegu Integrated Traffic Information system, the Bus Management System and bus stop information terminals, helping travelers and residents stay informed.

"The holiday period is shorter than last year, so overall travel demand is expected to decline somewhat, but we will do our best to ensure residents can enjoy the holiday without inconvenience," a city official said.
