Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Plant headquarters held a "Chuseok Agricultural and Marine Products Sharing" event Monday at Uljin Bajige Market, purchasing local produce and seafood to distribute to residents in need.
The event was funded through a "Love Fund" built from voluntary employee donations.
Staff purchased local agricultural and marine products at Uljin Bajige Market, assembled care packages and delivered them to 300 households in need of support and 12 welfare facilities in the area.
By buying directly from the traditional market, the initiative also helped boost sales for local vendors and small-business owners ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
"It is gratifying to see the fund our employees voluntarily put together make a real difference for local residents," said Yun Sang-geun, head of the management innovation office at Hanul headquarters. "We will continue to find ways to share warmth with the community."
