The North Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education announced Monday that it is conducting safety inspections at all educational facility construction sites in the province through Friday ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The inspections cover construction sites for projects commissioned by the education office, including new builds, expansions, renovations, relocations and facility improvement works.

Officials will assess construction progress at each site and examine safety management conditions, identifying potential hazards — including those that could arise from severe weather — and taking any necessary safety measures.

Key items on the inspection checklist include whether emergency contact systems are in place at each site, the status of contractor and subcontractor payments ahead of the holiday, plans to restrict outside access during the break, and whether safety measures have been prepared against adverse weather such as localized heavy rain.

Particular attention will be paid to access controls and the structural safety of facilities, given that construction sites will be left unattended for an extended period during the holiday. Inspectors will also verify that communication and site management systems are ready to enable a swift response in the event of an emergency.

"We will thoroughly check for risk factors in advance and ensure all necessary safety measures are in place so that construction site management does not become lax during the Chuseok holiday," North Gyeongsang Provincial Superintendent of Education Im Jong-sik said. "We will do everything possible to manage the safety of educational facilities so that all members of the North Gyeongsang education community can enjoy the holiday with peace of mind."
