Chennai factory relocation boosts production capacity, opens door to passenger car parts
KB Autotech, an automotive air-conditioning systems maker, has expanded its client base in India to include local plants operated by Hyundai Motor and Kia, following the expansion of its Chennai factory.
The company relocated the Chennai factory in February, enlarging the floor space roughly 1.7 times from 3,967 square meters to 6,612 square meters. The expanded production capacity has boosted sales of existing products and created room to take on new orders.
Since entering the Indian market in 2012, KB Autotech has supplied bus air-conditioning systems to Tata Motors in the commercial vehicle parts segment. It also supplies truck HVAC systems to Daimler India Commercial Vehicles.
More recently, the company secured orders for seat ventilation blowers from the Indian subsidiaries of Hyundai Motor and Kia, marking its expansion from commercial vehicle parts into the passenger car parts market.
"The relocation and expansion of the Chennai factory has allowed us to strengthen production capacity and enhance quality competitiveness," a KB Autotech official said. "We will continue to grow our local order base in both commercial and passenger vehicle parts."
