Seonamsa temple of the Taego Order joined a charitable drive ahead of the chuseok holiday.
Representatives from the temple visited Seungju-eup and donated 50 bags of rice (10 kilograms each) and 50 seaweed gift sets, asking that the items be distributed to senior centers and neighbors in need in the area.
"This donation is Seonamsa's act of compassionate sharing in practice of the Buddha's teachings, and it comes from our sincere wish that local residents enjoy a warm and bountiful chuseok," said Seungbeom, the temple's head monk.
Seungju-eup Chief Bang Su-jin expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank Seonamsa for practicing this warm spirit of giving for the community every holiday season."
The Seungju-eup office plans to distribute the donated rice and seaweed sets evenly among about 100 households in need, including low-income families, elderly people living alone and local senior centers.
