Promotion runs Sept. 14 through Oct. 11
Ancillary services discounted up to 67%
Don Quijote duty-free coupons and local shopping guides included
Jin Air announced Monday that it will run an overseas travel shopping promotion through Oct. 11, targeting passengers heading abroad during the chuseok holiday and the October long weekend.
The promotion is designed as a tailored shopping guide to help travelers plan their purchases at popular Jin Air destinations. Organized into three episodes themed around Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, it introduces destination-specific shopping lists while offering practical discount benefits redeemable on the ground.
Japan receives particular attention given the high frequency of Korean visitors: the campaign will highlight a curated selection of items available at Don Quijote, one of the country's most popular shopping destinations.
Jin Air said the promotion reflects a surge in local shopping demand driven by the weak yen as well as a broad decline in exchange rates for other major Asian travel currencies, including the Taiwan dollar and the Vietnamese dong.
The airline has lined up discounts spanning the journey from the airport to local shops. On the ancillary services side, excess baggage fees will be cut by up to 67% during the promotion period, while fast baggage retrieval, baggage packs and golf packs will be available at up to 50% off.
In addition, clicking the Don Quijote discount coupon link on Jin Air's promotion page takes users directly to a duty-free coupon page redeemable at Don Quijote stores in Japan. The coupons can be used to purchase new products at a discount, including Monchhichi-branded luggage and Okamoto kotatsu socks.
"We prepared tailored benefits to ease the baggage burden for travelers who enjoy shopping abroad on their way home," a Jin Air official said. "With a free baggage allowance of 15 kilograms plus a range of ancillary service discounts, we hope passengers will travel with Jin Air this holiday season and come back with both hands full — worry-free."
Meanwhile, Jin Air has continued its corporate social responsibility efforts, including an upcycling campaign launched Sept. 6 to mark Resource Circulation Day, in which retired crew uniforms were repurposed into new products.
