Naver Pay 10,000-won voucher for all who donate 100,000 won or more
Namyangju announced Monday that it will run a "chuseok pocket money" event through Sept. 27 to boost participation in the hometown donation system ahead of the chuseok holiday.
The event is designed to thank donors who have shown support for Namyangju and to build momentum for the hometown donation system during the holiday season.
Anyone who donates 100,000 won ($74) or more to Namyangju during the event period will receive an additional Naver Pay voucher worth 10,000 won. The voucher is a special benefit on top of existing tax deductions and return-gift perks, and will be issued Sept. 28.
Donors are also eligible for tax deductions based on the amount given, as well as return gifts worth up to 30 percent of their donation. The tax deduction rate is 100 percent on amounts up to 100,000 won, 44 percent on amounts between 100,000 won and 200,000 won, and 16.5 percent on amounts above 200,000 won.
Under the hometown donation system, individuals may donate to any local government other than the one where they are registered as residents, and the receiving municipality uses the funds to improve residents' welfare. Those registered as residents of Namyangju — including corporations — are not eligible to donate to the city under this system.
