Monthly program running for over a decade covers surgery and digital dentistry
Company operates training centers in 34 countries with 150,000 graduates worldwide
3D-printer-based custom materials support a self-reinforcing education ecosystem
Osstemimplant's academic exchange program for dentists, running for more than a decade, has reached its 100th session.
The dental implant maker held its 100th Faculty Seminar at the main auditorium of Magok Twin Tower in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on Saturday, the company announced Monday. Launched in March 2016, the seminar has been held monthly, reaching the milestone in just over 10 years.
The Faculty Seminar brings together dental school faculty, academic society members and clinical specialists to share the latest knowledge and surgical techniques across implantology, prosthetics, orthodontics, digital dentistry and general oral health. Invited universities and academic societies propose their own topics, and speakers and participants engage in open discussion — a format that has established the event as a practical academic platform for building real-world clinical skills.
Osstemimplant founded its dedicated training institution, the Osstemimplant Implant Center (OIC), in 2001 — the first of its kind in South Korea — moving beyond product demonstrations to offer hands-on surgical education. In 2018, the company introduced a tiered curriculum called the Master Course. Top instructors identified through the Faculty Seminar go on to teach in the Master Course, and the company supplies its own infrastructure — including practice mannequins and 3D-printer-based custom training materials — creating a self-reinforcing education ecosystem.
The model has expanded internationally: Osstemimplant now operates 38 local OIC centers across 34 countries. Of more than 140 permanent training facilities worldwide, over 100 are located outside South Korea, and the cumulative number of dentists who have completed online or in-person programs has reached 150,000.
Osstemimplant is evolving its long-term clinical training and academic exchange infrastructure — once seen primarily as a corporate social responsibility initiative — into a core sales and marketing engine that locks in a global community of dentists and drives brand loyalty for its homegrown dental devices.
"We will develop the Faculty Seminar into a platform that bridges future technology and clinical practice, in line with the changes sweeping dental care as digital and AI technology takes hold," an official at Osstemimplant's dental research institute said. "We will spare no effort in supporting education so that strengthening clinicians' capabilities ultimately translates into better care for patients."
