Career-exploration event held at National Busan Science Museum

Children explore shipbuilding, automotive, aerospace and energy exhibits

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation held a career-exploration science outing for about 200 children from community child centers in Ulsan at the National Busan Science Museum, the company announced Monday.

Participants visited the museum's maritime hall, which features model ships donated by HD Hyundai — including an LNG carrier, a container ship and a drillship — as well as the automotive and aerospace hall and the energy and medical science hall, where they learned about various scientific principles. The children also took part in board game programs and outdoor recreational activities.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries recently selected a proposal from Chorong-hoe, an in-house volunteer group, through its employee social contribution idea contest, and donated 10 million won ($7,470) to the Ulsan Dong-gu chapter of the Community Child Center Federation to fund science outings for local children.

The federation used the donation to give children with limited access to cultural activities the chance to explore potential career paths through visits to the science museum.

Since 2023, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has partnered with the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation to run a range of community programs driven by employee ideas. These include Happy Supporters, a project that funds employee-proposed social contribution initiatives; Local Children's Science Dream; HD Hyundai Bread Sharing, a volunteer baking program; Hi-Together, a joint volunteer activity open to both Korean and foreign participants; and Dong-gu Dongnak, a summer vacation program that provides meal-kit support to prevent food insecurity among children.
