The station will be closed from Oct. 2 to Oct. 30 for joint safety inspections and test runs of the temporary facility. Free shuttle buses will run between Dobongsan and Jangam stations, and advance notices will be issued to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
Jangam Station on Seoul Metro Line 7 will be closed from Oct. 2 to Oct. 30. During the closure, Line 7 will operate only between Seoknam and Dobongsan stations.
The shutdown is necessary to verify the safety of a temporary station facility that will remain in use until the new Jangam Station — part of the Dobongsan–Okjeong metropolitan railway project — is completed. Before the temporary facility opens, specialist agencies will conduct a joint inspection and carry out test runs of rail equipment.
The temporary facility is being built under the Dobongsan–Okjeong metropolitan railway project, led by Gyeonggi Province as the project operator, to minimize disruption for Line 7 passengers at Jangam Station until the new station opens.
The existing Jangam Station, currently operating as a simple platform structure inside the Dobong vehicle depot, will be demolished and replaced with a newly built station connected to the Dobongsan–Okjeong metropolitan railway.
Free shuttle buses will run between Dobongsan and Jangam stations throughout the closure period, operating from 5 a.m. to midnight. Buses will run every seven to 15 minutes on weekdays and every 10 to 20 minutes on weekends and public holidays.
Seoul Metro has asked Gyeonggi Province to arrange alternative transportation and take other steps to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
Working closely with Gyeonggi Province, Seoul Metro will station on-site guides at Dobongsan Station to direct passengers to the shuttle bus boarding area.
In addition, the agency plans to publicize the closure schedule and alternative transport options in advance through its website, the Ttota app, destination display boards inside stations, and banners, in an effort to keep passenger inconvenience to a minimum.
Jeong Won-gyu, head of Seoul Metro's strategic business division, said the closure of Jangam Station was unavoidable given the need to verify the safety of the temporary facility under the Dobongsan–Okjeong metropolitan railway construction plan. "However, we will work with Gyeonggi Province to ensure thorough advance publicity and monitor the smooth operation of the free shuttle buses, so that passenger inconvenience is kept to a minimum," he said.
