Group pavilion to open at Busan's Bexco from Wednesday

Southeast Korea cluster presented as model decarbonization ecosystem

Posco Group announced Monday that it will participate in the 2026 World Climate Industry Expo, to be held at Bexco in Busan from Wednesday through Friday, showcasing the group's decarbonization technology capabilities and vision.

The World Climate Industry Expo is an international event co-hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, the International Energy Agency and the World Bank to lead the response to the climate crisis and advance decarbonization. This year's edition centers on the theme "The Great Transformation Created by Climate Tech: A Leap Toward a Decarbonized World," highlighting the latest climate technology trends and discussing avenues for global decarbonization cooperation.

Participating for the sixth consecutive year, Posco Group will operate an integrated pavilion under the concept "POSCO: Opening the K-GX Ecosystem with Decarbonized Steel," bringing together four affiliates — Posco Holdings, Posco, POSCO International and Posco E&C.

The pavilion is organized into four zones: decarbonization innovation technology, core materials, carbon-free energy and the K-GX ecosystem.

The decarbonization innovation technology zone will highlight the group's steel decarbonization capabilities, featuring a process model of HyREX — Posco's proprietary hydrogen reduction ironmaking technology — alongside blast furnace-based bridge technologies and electric arc furnaces.

HyREX uses hydrogen instead of coal as a reducing agent to produce molten iron. Posco plans to complete a HyREX demonstration facility in Pohang with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons in 2028 and to secure commercial-scale technology by 2030.

The core materials zone will introduce key steel products supporting the AX and GX transformation of manufacturing industries — covering ESS, data centers, physical AI, new mobility and power infrastructure. The zone particularly aims to recast steel's role as an essential industrial resource for the future.

The carbon-free energy zone will bring together the group's carbon-free energy project capabilities and EPC competitiveness. POSCO International will share progress on its domestic offshore wind and solar projects, pursued in line with the government's renewable energy expansion policy, as well as its overseas market portfolio diversification. Posco E&C will demonstrate how it is expanding GX synergies within the group, drawing on its EPC capabilities in next-generation energy fields including nuclear power plants, small modular reactors and high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.

A highlight of this year's exhibition is the K-GX ecosystem zone, where visitors can see Posco Group's envisioned "success model for South Korea's decarbonization ecosystem." The model is a large-scale public-private project to develop the southeastern region of the country into a decarbonization cluster linked to the HyREX demonstration facility.

The southeastern region is considered an optimal site for clean hydrogen production using water electrolysis equipment, and can also receive a stable supply of carbon-free energy backed by abundant nuclear power.

"Building on government policy support for decarbonization, we will complete the commercial technology for hydrogen reduction ironmaking and take the lead in establishing the southeastern cluster — anchored by the HyREX demonstration facility — as a flagship success model for the K-GX industrial ecosystem, elevating the decarbonization competitiveness of South Korea's manufacturing sector as a whole," a Posco Group official said.

Meanwhile, Posco Group is actively working to create quality jobs and develop talent, with six group affiliates — Posco Holdings' Future Technology Research Institute, Posco, POSCO International, Posco E&C, Posco DX and the Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology — recruiting new employees for the second half of 2026.
