Name combines Sihwa Lake's 'blue wind' and Gwangokji's lotus flower

The city of Siheung has developed its own signature fragrance, "Blue Lotus," inspired by the winds of Sihwa Lake and the lotus blossoms of Gwangokji, and is now moving to expand scent-based content built around the brand.

According to the city Monday, Blue Lotus is a symbolic fragrance unique to Siheung that expresses the city's image and sensibility through scent, drawing on two of its defining natural landmarks — Sihwa Lake and Gwangokji. The name combines the "blue" of Sihwa Lake's open breeze and the "lotus" of Gwangokji's flowers.

The fragrance is inspired by the lake wind drifting through fresh green lotus leaves and the soft scent of fully bloomed lotus flowers. Rich green notes and floral accords blend together to capture the dynamic energy of a city where nature and urban life coexist.

The city produced a 100-milliliter diffuser using the brand fragrance and began selling it Tuesday at two Siheung brand shops — "Siheung Kkumsanghoe," a city-branded retail outlet — located in Oido and at Siheung City Hall. The price is 25,000 won ($19). Online sales through the store will begin in October.

Starting Monday, the city is also installing scented sachets in elevators throughout the city hall complex and operating fragrance diffusers in key public spaces, so that residents and staff can naturally encounter Siheung's signature scent in their daily lives.

Through scent-driven city branding content, the city plans to offer residents and visitors a new brand experience that lets them remember Siheung through all five senses.

"Blue Lotus is a new city brand asset that captures the appeal of Siheung's nature and urban character through fragrance," a city official said. "We will continue to develop diverse brand content drawing on Siheung's unique resources and stories, so that both residents and visitors can experience the city's charm with all their senses."
