Ulleung-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Saturday that it will offer discounts of up to 30 percent on passenger ferry fares to ease the travel costs of residents returning home for the Chuseok holiday.

The discount period runs from Sept. 23 to Sept. 28, covering two vessels on the Pohang–Ulleungdo route: the New Seedaopearl, operated by Ulleung Cruise, and the Eldorado Express, operated by Daejeo Ferry.

The New Seedaopearl will offer a 20 percent discount on six-person IN and SEA cabins and four-person IN cabins, while the Eldorado Express will apply a 30 percent discount across all seats.

Applications are open from Wednesday through Friday at 6 p.m. Travelers wishing to receive the discount must first book a ticket directly with the ferry operator and then submit an application through the Ulleung-gun website.

"I hope this discount helps ease the burden on those returning home and their families, and that they enjoy a warm Chuseok," Ulleung-gun Mayor Nam Han-kwon said.
