The Yeongcheon City Council in North Gyeongsang Province wrapped up an 11-day legislative schedule Friday, concluding the second plenary session of the 254th first regular session.

The plenary session opened with a five-minute free speech by Lawmaker Jo Sang-im on transforming market-type senior employment projects into a mutually beneficial model.

The council then voted on 23 agenda items — including ordinance bills, other proposals, a settlement approval for fiscal year 2025, and a second supplementary budget bill for 2026 — passing each as reviewed by the standing committees and the budget and settlement special committee.

Following the votes, lawmakers delivered in-depth policy questions on key local issues.

Lawmaker Choi Sun-rye raised issues related to Yeongcheon's Cheongje irrigation reservoir and its commemorative stele, while Jo pressed the city administration with pointed questions about the term management of neighborhood and village heads.

Lawmaker Bae Su-ye questioned the validity and effectiveness of calls to expand support for Yeongcheon Yeongdae Hospital.

Assembly Speaker Ha Gi-tae said the council would work closely with the city administration to ensure that policy alternatives and recommendations produced during the session are actively reflected in city governance, improving residents' welfare and driving regional development.
