Gallery Now in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is hosting "Unexpected Guest," a solo exhibition by artist Kim Yeon-su, through Oct. 28. Kim paints ordinary scenes encountered on daily walks — wild grass, trees, water and birds — drawing on the idea that the same place can look entirely different depending on the season, time of day, quality of light and air, and one's mood. Working with thin layers of paint applied through rubbing, stroking and building up, she captures the forms and atmosphere of nature, using soft outlines and repeated brushwork to render fleeting emotions on the canvas.
