For Owners as of June 1 — September Bills Cover Half of Housing Property Tax Plus Land Tax
Payment Available From Sept. 16 via ETAX, STAX, Dedicated Account, CD/ATM, ARS
Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul has issued its September regular property tax bills and sent tax notices to taxpayers.
Property tax is levied each year in July and September on owners of real estate as of the tax base date, June 1. In July, half of the housing tax, along with taxes on buildings and vessels, was billed. In September, the remaining half of the housing tax and the land tax are due. The payment period for the September regular property tax runs from Sept. 16 to Sept. 30.
Taxpayers can pay without a paper notice through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's internet payment system (ETAX), Seoul's tax payment mobile app (STAX), smartphone-based payments using credit cards, bank transfers or simple payment services, transfers to a dedicated account, or automated teller machines (CD/ATM) at banks.
Taxpayers who have difficulty using the internet or a smartphone can also pay property tax via ARS. For inquiries related to ETAX or STAX payments, taxpayers can contact the Seoul Metropolitan Government's ETAX call center.
Those who did not receive a tax notice due to a change of address, or who have questions about payment, can visit or call the district office's tax division.
"Property tax is a valuable revenue source for regional development and improving residents' welfare," said Choi Dong-min, Dongdaemun-gu district mayor. "As internet and ARS access may be delayed near the deadline due to heavy traffic, I ask taxpayers to complete their payments on time."
