Jin Jae-seop, chairman of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation, will take office on Tuesday.

The Seoul Metropolitan Council's special committee on the personnel hearing for the chairman candidate of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation is headed by Lee Young-sil. The committee held a confirmation hearing on Tuesday for candidate Jin Jae-seop, a former director of the Urban Railroad Bureau under the Seoul Metropolitan Infrastructure Headquarters. It took place at the council's Urban Safety and Construction Committee meeting room. The committee said it adopted a report on the confirmation hearing after a thorough, incisive round of questioning on the candidate's convictions, management philosophy and key policy issues.

Committee members pressed the candidate with pointed, in-depth questions, including his determination and vision for advancing the corporation as its chairman. They also asked about his plans for operating the corporation following the privately funded modernization project at the Tancheon Water Reclamation Center. Other questions covered measures to efficiently manage effluent water quality, plans to diversify sludge treatment methods, and steps to achieve energy self-sufficiency and efficiency.

Lee Young-sil, chairwoman of the special committee and a Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker representing Jungnang 1st District, said, "Through the confirmation hearing for the chairman candidate of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation, I am confident we thoroughly verified whether the candidate has the convictions, management philosophy and qualifications needed to fulfill the role of chairman." She said, "I believe the corporation faces a mountain of challenges it must resolve on its own, including policy issues and operational efficiency at the water reclamation centers, organizational management, labor-management consultations, the hiring ratio of female employees, welfare benefits related to pregnancy and childbirth, and communication with citizens."

She added, "If the candidate is appointed chairman, I hope he will carefully draw up mid- to long-term plans for these pressing challenges and make every effort to ensure the corporation's operations proceed without disruption. I expect the corporation to grow into an even more advanced water reclamation body," expressing both her expectations and hopes for the corporation's development.

Immediately after the hearing, the special committee adopted the confirmation report, citing its high assessment of the candidate's expertise and sense of responsibility.

The Seoul Metropolitan Council's personnel hearing special committee was formed under Article 47-2 of the Local Autonomy Act and the council's personnel hearing ordinance. It aims to recruit qualified individuals with strong management skills and expertise. Committee Chairwoman Lee Young-sil (Jungnang 1st District) attended Tuesday's hearing. Vice chairs Kim Byung-jin (Gangseo 6th District) and Kang Shin-wook (Gangnam 2nd District) also took part. Committee members Kang Dong-gil (Seongbuk 3rd District), Kong Woo-suk (Gwanak 1st District), Kim Jun-seong (Nowon 6th District), Bong Yang-sun (Nowon 3rd District) and Seong Heum-je (Eunpyeong 1st District) also participated. Lee Hyun-chan (Eunpyeong 4th District), Ham Dae-geon (proportional representation), Lee Su-jin (Songpa 6th District), Lee Jeong-mi (Jung-gu 1st District) and Lee Jae-sik (Yangcheon 1st District) rounded out the committee's attendance.
