Anyang City said Wednesday that it received a donation of 100 sacks of rice from the Anyang Regional Women Business Owners' Council to be distributed to social welfare facilities ahead of chuseok.

The city held a donation ceremony in front of Anyang City Hall's main building that day, receiving 100 sacks of 10-kilogram polished rice worth 4 million won ($2,980). The donated rice will be distributed to 11 social welfare facilities.

Lee Hye-gye, head of the Anyang Regional Women Business Owners' Council, said, "I hope this can be of some help to our neighbors in need in the community and allow them to spend a warm holiday."

The Anyang Regional Women Business Owners' Council is a group of women who head businesses based in Anyang. It was founded in 1998.
