Jin Kyo-hoon, Gangseo-gu district mayor, visited the Hwagok 4-dong Community Center on Wednesday for the "Mobile Free Traditional Medicine Checkup and Healing Concert" event, attentively looking after the seniors in attendance.

District Mayor Jin toured the venue, greeting seniors, before moving to the makeshift examination room, where he guided those who had come for checkups.

"Where does it hurt, ma'am?" he asked, approaching the seniors with his characteristic warmth and holding their hands.

One senior said, "I had back pain from spinal stenosis, but I am so grateful they gave me this checkup."

That day, song and magic performances took place in the community center's multipurpose room, while traditional medicine checkups were held in a separate designated space. About 80 seniors turned out, making the event a success.

The district partnered with the Korea Senior Culture Network (Chairman Kim Chul-soo) to organize the event, aimed at supporting an active retirement for seniors. After learning of the event's purpose, the Jaseng Medical Foundation (Social Contribution Committee Chairman Shin Min-sik), Mokdong Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine (Hospital Director Choi Woo-sung) and the Korean Traditional Medicine Hospital Association (Acting Association Chairman Kim Dong-sik) also joined in, lending their support through medical volunteer work.

The event, which began at Hwagok 4-dong, will continue through November at four more community centers -- Gonghang-dong, Deungchon 1-dong, Hwagok 6-dong and Yeomchang-dong -- for a total of five locations. Seniors wishing to receive a free checkup can sign up through their local community center.

"I deeply thank everyone who worked hard to ensure our seniors could receive convenient checkups without having to travel far," District Mayor Jin said. "We will do our best so that all our seniors can enjoy a healthy retirement."
