Writing and drawing contests — online pre-registration open through Sept. 18
Themes revealed on-site the day of the event — bring your own writing tools, art supplies and mats
Gwangjin-gu will hold pre-registration for participants in the family writing and drawing contests at the "2026 Gwangjin Family Festival." The festival is set for Oct. 10 at the lawn square near Guuimun Gate of Seoul Children's Grand Park.
The "2026 Gwangjin Family Festival" is a family cultural event designed to let families of all ages, from toddlers to adults, enjoy nature together, connect with one another and create special memories.
The festival's centerpiece programs, the family writing and drawing contests, give participants a chance to freely express their thoughts and feelings through words and pictures. The contests are open to Gwangjin-gu residents, students at schools in Gwangjin-gu, and area workers and their families. Those wishing to take part can apply online by Sept. 18 through the QR code included in the festival's promotional materials, including the poster.
The writing contest is divided into elementary, teen and adult divisions, while the drawing contest is split into preschool and elementary divisions. Elementary school students may enter both contests.
Contest themes and drawing topics will be revealed on-site the day of the event. Manuscript paper and drawing paper will be provided on-site, but participants must bring their own writing tools, art supplies and mats. Entries will be judged by experts, with winning works selected for awards.
Alongside the contests, the festival will offer a range of family-friendly activities, including a screening of "How to Train Your Dragon," face painting and eco-bag making.
Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, "I hope this will be a meaningful time for families to write and draw together while sharing their feelings with one another." He added, "I ask for your interest and participation in the Gwangjin Family Festival, where families can create joyful memories together on a cool autumn day."
