Fair offers tailored career counseling, job information sessions

A job fair designed to link Daegu's youth and middle-aged job seekers with quality local companies, fostering cooperation across generations, was held in the city.

The Korea Labor Foundation's Daegu Center for Middle-Aged Job Seekers said Wednesday that it held the "2026 Daegu Metropolitan City Generation-Synergy Job Fair" at the Government Bond Redemption Movement Memorial Library in Daegu.

Held under the theme "Connecting Our Future (MY JOB) With the Community, Beyond Generations," the fair brought together 37 companies from the Daegu area for on-site hiring interviews. The event also featured job information sessions by participating companies, one-on-one tailored career counseling, free ID photo shoots for resumes and aptitude tests.

The Daegu Center for Middle-Aged Job Seekers offered intensive reemployment consulting for middle-aged and older job seekers preparing for retirement or a new job. The Korea Labor Foundation's Daegu Labor-Management Win-Win Center provided information on the Win-Win GPAI Comprehensive Support Project and related consulting.

Ahead of the fair's opening, seven institutions signed an MOU to support local job creation and job seekers. They included the Korea Labor Foundation's Daegu Center for Middle-Aged Job Seekers, the Jung-gu District Office in Daegu, the Daegu Employment Welfare Plus Center, the Daegu-North Gyeongsang regional headquarters of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, the Veterans Support Center under the Daegu Regional Veterans Affairs Office, Daegu Health University and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Employment and Welfare Research Institute.

The participating institutions agreed to build a cooperative network to support job seekers and expand employment opportunities in the region. Including the institutions behind the MOU, about 15 organizations took part in the fair, among them the Daegu city government, the Daegu Metropolitan City Youth Center, the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute and the Daegu Center for Creative Economy Innovation.

"This generation-synergy job fair created benefits for both young and middle-aged job seekers," said Oh Yoo-kyung, head of the Korea Labor Foundation's Yeongnam branch. "We will continue to provide support so that local talent and companies can grow together."
