'Housing supply and financial measures are organically linked and must be explained in plain language on the ground'

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook said Thursday that all parties involved in housing supply policy — including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, related ministries, local governments, public institutions and financial institutions — must work closely together as one team.

Han made the remarks at the second cross-ministry housing rapid supply review meeting held that afternoon at Government Complex Seoul, saying "housing supply and financial measures are organically linked."

She added that tracking data had begun to reveal areas where ground-breaking was proceeding faster than expected, as well as areas falling behind. "We will support projects that are running smoothly so they can move even faster, and for projects facing difficulties, we will work together to find solutions," she said.

Han also said a recent visit to a redevelopment site had shown that residents lacked a clear understanding of key government measures, including the easing of loan regulations for relocation costs. "No matter how good a policy is, it must be explained to people on the ground in words they can easily understand," she said.

"Today's meeting is aimed at closely examining factors causing delays at each stage — permits, project execution and financial support — so we can resolve them quickly," Han said. "I will conduct frequent reviews myself, personally address any bottlenecks, and manage the process all the way through until we see real results in housing supply."
