A heartwarming story is making the rounds online about a delivery rider who slipped on a rain-slicked road, damaged part of a customer's order — and was met not with anger, but with warm words and a small gift of cash.

The account appeared on the social media platform Threads under the title "It was an infuriating night."

The rider, identified only as A, recalled that while making a delivery he fell on a wet road, damaging about a third of the food he was carrying.

He went to the customer's door, offered a sincere apology and asked for her bank account number so he could reimburse her for the ruined portion.

But the woman brushed off his offer, saying it was fine and that she would eat the food as it was.

She then expressed concern for him, telling him he had worked so hard in the rain, and — saying he reminded her of her own son — pressed some pocket money into his hand.

"I refused again and again, but she kept placing her warm kindness in my hand," A wrote. "I rode off with a gratitude I will never forget in my pocket, not knowing whether what was on my face was rainwater or tears."

A photo he shared alongside the post showed a delivery motorcycle key and a 10,000-won note.

He ended the post by writing, "It was an infuriating night that made me miss my mom so much."

Readers who came across the story left a range of comments, including: "You must have been flustered yourself, but the fact that you tried to make it right shows a warm heart," "Reading this made my heart ache," "I hope you weren't hurt," and "The woman's kindness is so touching."
