North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that the 13th Korean Women Farmers North Gyeongsang Convention was held at the Gimcheon General Sports Town.

The event, hosted by the Korean Women Farmers North Gyeongsang Provincial Federation, drew North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Gimcheon Mayor Bae Nak-ho and more than 2,000 women farmers from 22 cities and counties across the province.

The program opened with a nanta percussion performance, followed by an awards ceremony for outstanding farmers, opening and welcoming remarks, congratulatory speeches and a vision proclamation ceremony.

The afternoon featured athletic events and a member fellowship gathering. Side events set up throughout the venue included a women farmers' health consultation booth, an exhibition of local agricultural specialties, a promotional booth for women farmers' specialized health screenings, and caricature and nail art experiences.

The Korean Women Farmers North Gyeongsang Provincial Federation has contributed to resolving community issues, including participating in fundraising drives to address the low birth rate and to help neighbors affected by wildfires.

The federation has also worked to identify practical priorities for farming communities, including efforts to improve working conditions for women farmers and expand welfare support.

Federation President Kim Su-mi said in her opening remarks that the convention had been "a precious time for women farmers to gather in one place, encourage one another, communicate and share a beautiful friendship," adding that the organization would "continue to work harder so that women farmers can play a central role in agricultural development."

Governor Lee thanked members of the federation for "steadfastly protecting rural communities despite difficult farming conditions such as drought and labor shortages," and urged them to "take the lead as representatives of women farmers in the region, championing the improvement of their status and rights."
