Singer Sunmi has canceled a fan meeting scheduled in Shanghai, China, four days before the event was set to take place.

Abyss Company, Sunmi's agency, announced Tuesday through its official SNS that the fan meeting "Meet SUNMI in Late Summer," scheduled for Saturday at NEOVANA in Shanghai, would not go ahead.

The agency said a final review of on-site operations and overall preparations had led to the conclusion that the current state of readiness could not adequately guarantee a stable event or a high-quality fan meeting experience.

"It is important that both the artist and fans can enjoy the event in a safe and comfortable environment, and that the performance meets the standard we originally promised," the agency said, adding that the cancellation was made after consultations with the local organizer. "We are truly sorry and deeply regretful to deliver this sudden news to the fans who have been looking forward to the fan meeting and supporting Sunmi."

The agency added that Sunmi herself was very disappointed not to be able to meet fans as planned, and pledged to work toward creating a new opportunity for her to meet Shanghai fans at a better-prepared event.

Tickets already purchased will be fully refunded through the local organizer and each official ticketing platform. Details on the refund process and timeline will be announced separately through official channels.
