The Daegu Policy Research Institute announced Sunday that it has appointed Moon Hong-seong as its second director.
Moon's three-year term begins Tuesday.
A fiscal policy specialist, Moon graduated from Seoul National University's department of economics and earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri.
He entered public service through the civil service examination and has held positions at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the presidential office and the IMF.
His appointment carries added significance as the first selection of a head of a key economic institution under Daegu's ninth directly elected administration.
"I will do my utmost to help the Daegu Policy Research Institute take a leap forward as a core think tank that translates Mayor Choo Kyung-ho's administrative vision for the ninth directly elected term into policy and delivers results," Moon said.
