Actor Han Jung-su has warned of the severity of the climate crisis, citing the deadly floods in Nepal.

Han posted his thoughts on the disaster to his social media account Friday. Floods that struck the Bagmati Province region of northern Nepal on Wednesday (Korean Standard Time) have left more than 2,000 people dead or injured.

"Earth's counterattack has begun," Han wrote. "I have long issued warnings and taken part in protests, but humans have continued to ignore nature's warnings."

He went on to say that "the Nepal floods are just a very small beginning. When Earth's full counterattack gets underway, humanity will face a situation bordering on extinction."

Han also linked the climate crisis to the use of fossil fuels, warning that "if humans continue burning fossil fuels out of selfishness, humanity will bring about its own destruction."

Han has drawn public attention for regularly sharing his views on a range of issues through social media.
