Mapo-gu District Mayor Yu Dong-gyun attended a roundtable meeting with heads of traditional market and shopping district merchants associations at the Mapo-gu Office main conference room Friday afternoon.
The meeting was organized to hear merchants' difficulties and suggestions directly and to discuss ways to revitalize local commercial districts.
About 20 association heads representing traditional markets, shopping districts and alley-type commercial zones took part, sharing their views on challenges they face on the ground, support policies they need and improvements to customer convenience.
Mapo-gu plans to review the feedback through relevant departments and work to ensure practical support measures are put in place.
"Markets and alley commercial districts are more than just places to buy and sell goods — they are Mapo's most cherished foundation, where residents' lives have unfolded over generations and the local economy breathes," Yu said. "We will actively seek out policies that genuinely help merchants and translate into real benefits for them."
