The Korea Forest Engineer Association held a relocation ceremony for its South Jeolla-Gwangju chapter office on Friday.
About 50 people attended, including TKFEA President Jin Yeong-mun, Kang Sin-hui, head of the forest support division at the South Jeolla-Gwangju East Government Complex, Han Yeon-deok, director of the future growth bureau at Damyang-gun, Park Hyeong-ho, head of the South Jeolla branch of the Forest Disaster Safety Technology Corporation, and Im Hong-jun, head of the South Jeolla-Gwangju chapter.
The ceremony was organized to strengthen chapter operations and deepen cooperation with related agencies.
TKFEA is a special corporation under the Korea Forest Service, established in 2019 to advance the nation's forestry technology by upholding the professional standards of forest engineers, promoting their welfare and qualifications, protecting their rights, and overseeing quality management in forestry projects.
The South Jeolla-Gwangju chapter plans to pursue worker safety and health education, specialized training for forest engineers, and collaborative projects with related agencies.
"The opening of the South Jeolla-Gwangju chapter will be a major opportunity to boost the competitiveness of regional forestry technology," Jin said. "We will spare no effort in supporting engineer education and capacity building."
Im said the chapter would listen closely to local forest engineers and work to improve their skills, protect their rights and raise the quality of forestry projects. "We will be out in the field, communicating on the ground, to contribute to the advancement of Korea's forestry technology," he added.
