Another dam has collapsed in the Himalayan border region between Nepal and China just two days after a major flood struck the area, AFP reported Friday (local time).
Nepal police said they had received information that another dam had collapsed on the Tibetan side of the border, and warned all security personnel and rescue workers deployed in relief operations to remain on alert and evacuate immediately to safe locations.
Reuters said rescue operations in Nepal had been suspended for the next hour and a half.
Reuters added that helicopter rescue operations in the Rasuwa district of Bagmati Province in northern Nepal had been halted, and that villagers were seen urgently fleeing to higher ground.
