Pyeongchang-gun held an integrity pledge ceremony Friday, with officials declaring that senior staff would lead by example in upholding ethical standards.
Participants jointly signed and read aloud an integrity pledge, committing to abide by the law and principles and to carry out their duties with honesty as public servants.
They pledged in particular to eradicate corruption starting from the highest ranks and to foster a clean public-service culture through impartial work not swayed by personal interests.
The pledge covered four commitments: leading by example to build an integrity-minded public service environment, eliminating solicitation and improper requests that interfere with fair job performance, rejecting undue external interference in official duties, and complying with the Anti-Graft Act and codes of conduct.
Deputy County Chief Im Seong-won said integrity is "the most fundamental value in maintaining residents' trust in the public sector," adding that the county would "work to build an organizational culture where all members can perform their duties fairly and transparently, with senior officials taking the lead."
