S-Oil announced Friday that registration is open through mid-September for the "Marathon of Emotion," a race organized by the Korea Disabled People's Rehabilitation Association and headed by legendary marathoner Lee Bong-ju.

Sponsored by S-Oil to mark its 50th anniversary, the event will be held Oct. 4 at Peace Plaza in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The race welcomes both disabled and non-disabled participants across three courses — 5km, 10km and a half marathon — all routed along the Nanji circular path, passing landmarks including Peace Lawn Plaza and Sky Park.

Registration fees are 50,000 won ($36) for the 5km course, 60,000 won for the 10km and 70,000 won for the half marathon. All proceeds will be donated to the Korea Disabled People's Rehabilitation Association, and participants will receive an official donation receipt. Disabled participants may enter free of charge, and one companion runner accompanying a participant with a developmental or visual disability may also register at no cost.

Lee, who serves as the event's director, described the race as "a special competition where people with and without disabilities run together, respecting each other's pace." He added that it would be "a place to cheer one another on and share the values of challenge and hope, beyond times and rankings."

Meanwhile, S-Oil supported the "Marathon of Emotion" for 14 consecutive years from 2006 to 2019, championing the spirit of challenge and the will to rehabilitate among people with disabilities. This year's edition, revived for the company's 50th anniversary, is expected to bring disabled and non-disabled participants together to run side by side and connect.
