Suspect roamed campus for over 40 minutes; similar intrusion reported at nearby school

Police have launched an investigation after a man suspected of wearing a short-haired wig and women's clothing broke into a girls' high school and wandered the campus. The suspect reportedly identified himself to students as a graduate of a nearby middle school, and police are also looking into whether the same person was behind a similar intrusion at that school.

According to Yonhap, a 112 emergency call was received Wednesday reporting that "a man dressed as a woman had entered the school" at a girls' high school in Wonju, Gangwon Province.

Police reviewed closed-circuit television footage and found that at around 4:51 p.m. Tuesday, a person wearing a short-haired wig and facial makeup entered the school through an unlocked gate and roamed the building floor by floor for more than 40 minutes.

The suspect told students on campus at the time that he was a graduate of a middle school in Bangok-dong, Wonju.

Police are tracking the whereabouts of an identified suspect and plan to investigate him on charges including trespassing once he is taken into custody.

A similar intrusion has also been confirmed at the middle school the suspect named, and police said they will determine whether the person who entered both schools is the same individual.
