Actor Kwon Sang-woo was turned away from a well-known clothing store in the United States.
A video titled "How Son Tae-young and Kwon Sang-woo have lived in the US for six years" was posted Wednesday on Son Tae-young's YouTube channel.
The couple were out on a date in the US when they headed to a store carrying Kwon's favorite brand. Standing outside, Kwon called it "my all-time favorite brand."
What followed was unexpected. Staff turned him away because the store was nearly closing.
"They wouldn't let us in with 10 minutes left before closing," Son said. "We told them we drove all the way from New Jersey and could pick something out in 10 minutes, but they still said no. They didn't recognize an Asian star." She laughed off the snub to cheer up her husband.
Kwon recounted the exchange himself. "I got turned away at the door. I told them the place closes in 10 minutes and I'd buy something in five, but they said no," he said. "Let's go."
The couple then tried a nearby cafe, only to find it was closing in two minutes as well, so they settled for takeout.
Kwon and Son married in 2008 and have a son and a daughter. Son has been living in New Jersey for the children's education and other reasons, while Kwon splits his time between South Korea and the US to be with his family.
