BYD Korea announced Friday the official opening of its 36th passenger-car showroom, BYD Auto Starfield Market Wolgyae.

The showroom occupies the ground floor of Starfield Market Wolgyae, a large-scale renewal of the former E-mart Wolgyae store that opened Thursday. Designed around a "city mall concept," the 139-square-meter space lets customers encounter the BYD brand and electrified mobility naturally in the course of everyday shopping, dining and leisure. It can display up to three vehicles and includes a dedicated parking area to support test drives and vehicle delivery.

The Wolgyae-dong area of Nowon-gu, where the showroom is located, draws from a vast residential catchment spanning the major apartment districts of northeastern Seoul — including Nowon-gu, Dobong-gu and Gangbuk-gu — as well as adjacent areas in northern Gyeonggi Province.

The area has a high concentration of families in their 30s and 40s, making it a strong market for practical, value-oriented family sedans and SUVs. BYD Korea said it expects plug-in hybrid models such as the Sea Lion 6 DM-i, which frees drivers from range anxiety, to generate strong interest in the region.

"When the space where customers meet us changes, the way they experience the brand can change too," a BYD Korea official said. "Going forward, we will consistently explore new showroom formats — including city mall and cafe concepts — alongside traditional dealerships, and expand our network so that more people can experience BYD in a convenient and approachable way."

BYD Korea recently began domestic deliveries of the Sea Lion 6 DM-i, extending its passenger-car lineup beyond electric vehicles into plug-in hybrids as it steps up its push into the Korean electrification market.
