A ceremony held Tuesday at the district office's second-floor auditorium recognized 45 model youth and 5 meritorious contributors across fields including leadership, volunteer service, creative activity, filial piety and youth development
"We will spare no effort in supporting youth so they can grow up on the right path."
Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Seong-su made the remarks Tuesday as he presented commendations to 50 model youth and meritorious contributors to youth development at a ceremony in the second-floor auditorium of the district office.
The ceremony was organized to recognize youth who have set an example through diligent and upright conduct at school and in the community, as well as individuals who have contributed to the healthy development and welfare of young people. The event aimed to encourage the honorees and foster a sense of pride in their achievements.
More than 110 people attended, including the honorees, their parents, family members and other guests, who gathered to celebrate the recipients' exemplary contributions and cheer them on as they continue to grow.
The ceremony opened with a dynamic dance performance by Lunaflow, a youth arts dance team.
This year's honorees totaled 50 — 45 model youth and 5 meritorious contributors to youth development.
The model youth commendations were presented across four categories: leadership, for those who demonstrate initiative and drive; volunteer service, for youth who show consideration for friends and neighbors and practice sharing; creative activity, for those who stand out with original ideas; and filial piety and fellowship, for those who respect their parents and elders.
The meritorious contributor commendations went to individuals who have made notable contributions to youth development through guidance, counseling, protection and support. Recipients were nominated by local schools, community service centers, and youth-related organizations and institutions, then selected through a formal merit review.
The district set up a four-cut photo booth at the venue, allowing the honored youth, contributors, and their families and friends to take commemorative photos and mark the occasion with a lasting memory.
"The youth who have given their best in their respective roles, and the contributors who have dedicated themselves to nurturing the next generation, are the driving force behind Seocho's future," District Mayor Jeon said. "We will continue to seek out and actively encourage model youth, and spare no effort in supporting young people so they can grow up on the right path."
