Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended a safety ceremony Wednesday morning at the Junggye-bon-dong housing redevelopment project site, wishing for an accident-free construction process and the safe completion of the project.
The ceremony was organized to mark the project's entry into full-scale construction and to reinforce safety awareness on site. The redevelopment project covers an area commonly known as "Baeksa Village," and the event was held to wish for zero accidents through to completion.
About 80 people attended, including District Mayor Seo, National Assembly members, Seoul city and district council lawmakers, officials from project developer SH, and representatives from contractor GS Engineering & Construction. The event proceeded with a project progress report, commemorative and congratulatory remarks, and the safety ceremony itself. Attendees pledged to put safety first and work together toward a successful project.
The Junggye-bon-dong housing redevelopment project will build a residential complex of 26 buildings — ranging from nine below-ground floors to 35 above-ground floors — with a total of 3,178 units on land around 30-3 Junggye-dong. Full construction began this month, with completion and move-in targeted for September 2030.
Since the launch of the ninth elected-term administration, Nowon-gu has made reconstruction and redevelopment a core priority for the district, concentrating administrative resources on accelerating redevelopment projects through a dedicated "Reconstruction Fast-Track Team" operating directly under the district mayor.
"The Junggye-bon-dong housing redevelopment project is one of Nowon's most representative redevelopment initiatives, long awaited by residents," District Mayor Seo said. "Now that full-scale construction has begun, the district will keep a close watch to ensure the project moves forward without incident, with safety as the top priority."
