Kang Jun-woo, a member of Yukjungwan Band, announced that his premature son has been discharged from the hospital, expressing gratitude to medical staff and the public alike.

On Wednesday, Kang posted a lengthy message on Instagram saying, "I am writing to share that our son Wooju was discharged on Tuesday."

"Our baby, born on April 16, 2026, at 25 weeks and weighing 690 grams, was discharged healthy on Tuesday after 131 days, weighing 4.16 kilograms," he wrote. He added that the baby was sent home with only a pulse oximeter because his oxygen saturation occasionally dropped during feeding.

Kang thanked everyone who had supported the family. "We are truly grateful to all who cheered us on. Every comment and every word of encouragement brought us great comfort — and many tears. We are thankful for each and every one of you," he wrote.

He also expressed appreciation to the neonatal intensive care unit staff at Samsung Medical Center. "I want to thank the NICU medical team at Samsung Medical Center, who cared for and treated Wooju for about four months. I cannot find words adequate to express how grateful I am," he said.

Kang said he had initially not given much thought to the financial side of things when he first checked into a major hospital, but as time passed, the cost of care became a real concern.

According to the medical bill Kang shared, the total cost of treatment over 131 days came to 216.95 million won ($157,000). Of that, the National Health Insurance Service covered 214.73 million won, while the patient's co-payment was 920,040 won and non-covered expenses totaled 1.26 million won. The total amount paid out of pocket came to 2.22 million won.

Kang closed his post by writing, "I will live the rest of my life never forgetting this grace."

Kang made his debut in 2011 as a member of the band Jangmiryeogwan and has been active with Yukjungwan Band since 2019, when he formed the group with Yukjungwan. He married a non-celebrity in 2016.
