Lee Jun-hyung speaks at 'Beautiful Life in Seoul' opening; festival spans 14 programs across fashion, design and wellness
152 brands join Seoul Beauty Week to showcase products and hold export consultations
Planning and Economy Committee Chairman Lee Jun-hyung of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Gangdong 3) said the city should develop residents' everyday lives into cultural and industrial content that draws global attention.
Lee attended the opening ceremony of "Beautiful Life in Seoul" (BLS) at DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza) on Sunday and said he would support efforts to establish Seoul's lifestyle as a benchmark for global trends.
Beautiful Life in Seoul is a festival that links the daily lives and living culture of Seoul residents to the fashion, design, wellness and entertainment industries, in step with the growing influence of K-culture. A total of 14 programs will run across 12 spaces inside DDP over four days.
Seoul Beauty Week, the festival's centerpiece event, features 152 brands showcasing the latest beauty products and technology. Visitors will have the opportunity to try and purchase a range of products, while domestic small and midsize beauty companies will hold export consultations with overseas buyers.
The event focuses on boosting the competitiveness of the K-beauty industry by connecting beauty and cultural content enjoyed by Seoul residents in their daily lives to opportunities for Korean companies to enter overseas markets.
"As Korean culture permeates the daily lives of people around the world and K-culture becomes industrialized as mainstream global content, I will actively support efforts to ensure that everything Seoul residents do — from beauty and fashion to wellness — can develop into a competitive industry," Lee said.
