Both sign-ups together earn 1,600-won tax credit
Pocheon city said Wednesday it is encouraging residents subject to the September regular property tax to sign up for electronic tax notices and automatic bank transfers to make paying local taxes more convenient.
Residents who sign up for electronic notices receive an 800-won tax credit, as do those who enroll in auto-payment. Signing up for both services together earns a combined credit of up to 1,600 won.
The electronic notice service delivers local tax bills through KakaoTalk, email or banking apps instead of paper mail. Residents no longer risk losing a paper notice and can check their tax information anytime, anywhere.
The auto-payment option automatically deducts the amount owed from a registered bank account on the due date, eliminating the risk of missing a deadline and sparing residents a trip to the bank or the need to log in to internet banking.
"Electronic notices and auto-payment help taxpayers pay more conveniently while at the same time reducing administrative costs," said Bae Sang-geun, head of the city's tax administration division. "We encourage residents to sign up for both services, take advantage of the tax credit and enjoy a more convenient way to pay their local taxes."
Electronic notices take effect the month after enrollment. Residents can sign up through Wetax, a simple payment app or in person at the city hall tax administration division.
