The National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee adopted a resolution Wednesday, with the backing of both the ruling and opposition parties, calling on Homeplus to draw up a responsible rehabilitation plan as the retailer undergoes court receivership proceedings. The resolution is formally titled "A Resolution Urging Homeplus Normalization and Mutual Cooperation to Protect People's Livelihoods and Regional Economies."

The resolution calls on Homeplus to prepare and commit to a responsible rehabilitation plan, urges its creditors to approve such a plan, and asks suppliers and other stakeholders to cooperate in the company's recovery.

The committee also resolved to make every effort needed, including regulatory improvements, to support Homeplus's normalization. Rep. Park Sang-hyeok, the ruling party's floor coordinator on the committee, said after the vote that he was grateful the ruling and opposition parties had come together, adding, "We united in our resolve to help Homeplus return to normal operations."
