LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) signed a cooperation agreement with Korea Aerospace University on Tuesday at the Second Pangyo House in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the company announced Wednesday.
LIG D&A CEO Shin Ik-hyeon and Korea Aerospace University President Heo Hui-yeong attended the signing ceremony, along with other senior officials from both organizations.
Under the agreement, the two sides will identify and develop training programs for specialists in the aerospace and defense industries. They also plan to pursue joint research across aviation and space sectors, along with industry-academia collaboration and exchanges of faculty, researchers and resources.
Both parties also agreed to contribute to regional development initiatives in northern Gyeonggi Province in which Korea Aerospace University participates, including the establishment of a defense industry cluster and a specialized aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul project.
LIG D&A has been building partnerships with various institutions to strengthen its competitiveness, including in AI. In January, the company signed a comprehensive MOU with Yonsei University's College of AI Convergence covering cooperation in AI and the training of specialized talent.
